Less waste, more reuse.

Aged tea taught us to treasure things.

Much of our tea is older than the people who drink it. It has rested for decades in bamboo baskets, kraft paper and yak hide, protected all along by its original packaging. Caring for aged tea has taught us to value resources: if something can still be used, we give it another round and send a little less to landfill.

Packaging

Reused outside, new where it touches the tea.

To cut down on wasted boxes and packing, the shipping box and padding we send are clean, reused materials wherever possible, such as boxes sent to us and kraft paper from our storage. Everything that touches the tea, from the inner bag and cotton paper to the caddy, is always new and food-safe.

How it works

A box’s second journey.

01

Collect

Boxes sent to us and kraft paper from the storage are kept and flattened.

02

Check

Only clean, dry, odour-free ones stay; damp or torn ones go to recycling.

03

Pack

The tea goes into a new inner bag first, then into the recycled box with reused kraft paper.

04

Send

The box may show a little wear, but every reuse means one less box thrown away, and the tea inside is just as carefully protected.

One more use, one less thrown away.

Our packing principle
The basket

The original packaging is the best packaging.

Liu Bao ages in bamboo baskets, pu-erh in cotton paper, Kang brick bound in rawhide. All of it breathes, decomposes and can be used again. Whole baskets ship as they are. When we split a basket, the bamboo and kraft paper are kept for the next parcel.

What we skip

Less packaging, less waste.

No over-packaging

No ribbons, carrier bags or nested boxes. Tea needs dryness and darkness, not decoration.

No extra printed matter

No catalogue, no flyers, so less paper. Every tea’s story, brewing and storage record live on this site.

Sound boxes stay in use

As long as a box is clean and sturdy, we keep using it, even with a little wear or an old label, so fewer new boxes are needed.

With you

After the tea arrives.

The box and padding can go one more round: send something to a friend, store things, or keep them for us. Empty gift boxes and caddies hold other tea or dry goods well. [Return scheme for boxes and baskets: TBD]
